Routine Maintenance and Safety

The sprayer you have purchased is of the highest quality - we use the finest virgin plastic, high-grade seals and gaskets, and take every precaution in the manufacturing of these units.

However, the successful long-term and safe operation of your sprayer resides with you. You must take precautions to protect yourself and maintain your sprayer regularly to ensure its longevity.

Use proper protective gear and necessary clothing (gloves, goggles, spray suit, etc.)

Important Points

Seals and O-Rings

We do not provide a warranty on seals and O-rings as we have no control over the manner in which the equipment is used.

Although we use the finest quality rubber, seals and O-rings will deteriorate over time because of chemical attack and the user should be conscious of this fact and replace the seals periodically.

First Use of the Sprayer

  1. Attach the spray wand.
  2. Tighten hose clamps firmly, but do not over-tighten or strip the hose clamps. This is important because we do not fully tighten clamps at the factory in order to extend the life span of these parts.
    1. Please note: The SP0, SP0V, SP1, SP1E, SP2, SP3, EstateKeeper, The Piston, and the SP1/C have three clamps: 2 on the hose connector and one on the bottom of the sprayer.
    2. The YardTender 101, YardTender 189, an the YardTender 389E have two clamps, both on the hose.
  3. Oil the seal and check valve in the cap (see tag on cap).

After Each Use of the Sprayer

  1. Empty remaining spray solution from the sprayer tank. Dispose according to the chemical manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Pour approximately one gallon fresh water into the tank and run through the sprayer.
  3. Mix one gallon fresh water with a neutralizing solution (see our suggestions for neutralizing solutions) and pour into the sprayer. Replace the cap on the tank and tighten. Shake tank to ensure the neutralizing solutions reaches all internal parts of the sprayer, then run the solution through the sprayer.
  4. One again, pour approximately one gallon fresh water into the tank and run through the sprayer.
  5. Store your sprayer in a dry, shaded area to ensure a long life.

Neutralizing Solution Suggestions

We recommend a neutralizing solution be used to neutralize the chemical used in the sprayer. The following are names of several products on the market. We do not endorse any of these products nor do we claim that these listed products are better than others on the market. The names are provided with the intent of aiding the owner of our equipment in identifying and purchasing a neutralizing solution.
